Whakamana Ira Tangata is a group that sits within the wider Cross Agency Rainbow Network (CARN). We are open to all gender diverse, transgender and gender questioning people within the public service.
Our aim is to promote visibility of gender diverse and transgender people within the public service sector.
What we do
Our primary purpose is to be a safe space for members to connect, find support and share work or personal experiences. Occasionally we will be involved in work that CARN is doing, if it impacts our community.
We work within Whakamana Ira Tangata as well as with CARN on initiatives that relate to equality for our kaimahi and community.
To keep this as a safe space the email list is held only by Sunny, who runs the group. Meeting attendance is only for those in the community. On the rare occasion someone from outside the community may present at a meeting, this will be communicated to you in advance.
Meetings
We hold meetings once a month. If you are in Wellington the meetings are in person. We are looking to expand this into other regions. After the monthly meeting there is often an in person get together in Wellington.
Newsletters
Newsletters are sent once a month, they include:
- conversation topics and details about the next monthly meeting
- recent news
- introductions from some of the members
- shared learnings and resources.
