We will build strong and authentic partnerships with wāhine Māori, Pacific women and women from ethnic communities creating greater collective impact.
Outcome
The system is more reflective of, and more responsive to, the diverse needs of wāhine Māori, Pacific women and women from ethnic communities.
Our Actions
We will promote regionally led and nationally supported approaches by partnering with agencies to explore service model opportunities that will create regional opportunities.
We will develop case studies of existing regionally led service models. This taonga will be shared across the Public Service.

We will establish the ethnic Public servants’ advisory group to capture expert advice representative of a multitude of cultural lens’, strategic and operational perspectives.
- Key Partners: Ministry for Ethnic Communities, Employee-led networks, Whaikaha, Mānatu Wāhine
- Timeframe: Within 1 year
We will support agencies to embed cultural competency and accessibility best practice across the systems core business so that Māori, Pacific and ethnic communities can confidently participate in recruitment and development opportunities.
- Key Partners: Te Kawa Mataaho with all Public Service organisations, in partnership with Employee-led networks.
- Timeframe: Within 3 years
We will partner with agencies to promote accessible leadership and career pathways across the Public Service for rangatahi Māori, Pacific and ethnic communities, including disabled and Rainbow public servants who are part of these communities.
