Procurement

New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP) delivers MBIE’s procurement functional leadership objectives through a collaborative, centre-led approach. NZGP helps government to deliver better value, and wider cultural, economic, environmental, and social outcomes, by lifting procurement capability and performance
Tertiary Education Institutes are excluded but are encouraged to follow the Government Procurement Rules

MBIE’s role includes property advice and setting standards and guidelines for Government Property Group mandated agencies. They work with agencies on office space and public interface property requirements, excluding operational sites

NZ Business number

Each New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) is unique and gives customers and suppliers confidence. A NZBN can help identify branches, departments or locations with unique numbers known as Organisation Parts, as well as an opportunity to identify a business as Māori if it has Māori owners, assets, philosophy, kaupapa or tikanga
Under section 15 of the NZ Business Number Act 2016 a business number is issued to any new public entities

Data and Statistics Act 2022

Requirement in the Data and Statistics Act 2022 for a public sector agency to provide information when requested by the Government Statistician about production of official statistics, compliance with standards, or data that is used for official statistics
An agency must also raise any material concerns about statistics they produce and consult the Government Statistician before making changes to data or statistical collections if those changes could affect production of statistics or data made available for research under the Act
